WoW, I came back after 2 days not expecting to see this much advice... this is great! Its nice to get a warm welcome as well.

So... I got a C++ Primer by Steven Prata. Reviews say its one of the best starter books.

I have taken a VB class and a program design class in college so I know about do while and do until loops. I know some conditinal language like if then else.

Thanks guys... Im sure Ill need lots of help getting started but this is a great place to start. Im excited!

I have the same C++ Primer book. Its will though on topics but some thoughts can be confusing. I also have the book by Wrox Beginner Visual C++ 2005 that book explains everything reallyy great even explain things I didn't understand in C++ Primer but it doesn't have Vector or File info in it. Thats all I seen it lack.

C++ is good, but starting with C might not be so bad. When I started programming in C, I began wishing certain things were available in that language. I later learned about Java (and c++), which had those things. It made me appreciate C++.

If you learn C, you'd learn to respect and appricate C++ for its more functionality. I used to hate C++ but now i grown to love it.
