Is this to be a competitor to PFO? I would think a statement regarding that would be in order.

You would also need permission from big k, which would obviously mean an affiliate position would be his decision. Don't be so quick to assume things will go your way, it might just be harder to accept the facts if they go the in the opposite direction you choose.

I found it hard to figure he was already an affiliate. Hence why it's more like competitor at thispoint. Other thing to consider is what is unique about this 'new community'? Do we really need another programming site with forums?

What makes you guys think that I will be a competitor? I am making this new forum to educate people who want to be programmers. I am not going to be "stealing" any thing from PFO. So all of you that think that can suck something hard...

Don't let them bug you, if you know you're doing something good, just ignore them. :p
I don't think many will join other forums, if your forum/community is getting large enough, people will want to be moderator/admin if you ask them. Having admins and moderators beforehand often doesn't work.

nnxion makes a good point. Start it out and see how you do. Sorry for the discouragement. But honestly, ask yourself what will be unique about your site. That is what you need. There are so many coding sites out there already, why come to yours. Just trying to help. Go ahead with the site anyways, it's a good learning experience.
