I am probably closer to you than most people here (I'm in Mississippi). Sounds like a good event, but the damn gasoline is getting to be $3.00 a gallon. So if we don't drop some nukes and take some oil soon... I won't be driving anywhere but to home and work.

We pay 1.43 euro per liter, which is converted, 6.67 dollar a gallon.
We have had always had up to 5 times the price of the US, only since a couple of years has the US gone up a lot.

Here I was thinking the US prices are outrageous... its getting out of control really. A lot of people can't afford those type of prices.

Not if you want to drive 5000 miles every summer across the US. I was in Germany last weekend almost on the border of Luxembourg, the price in Germany was 1.41, the price in Luxembourg 5 miles away was 1.13, that's just taxes.

It's an insane world we live in. A lot of people in Europe are getting and are already anti-American because they think that Americans only care for themselves and not the for the rest of the world. Fighting in Iraq just for the oil, not signing the Kyoto etc. I think the EU is stupid, most people have not read the protocol (much worse for the US than for other countries), and do not know what it was like to live in Iraq. They also think that Bush is stupid, but they have never been president of such a country, not even for 1 day.

A _lot_ of people these days are stupid, only looking toward the 'now', and not the future. Even intelligent people are not wise, and the once wise become foolish. Oh well, I'm expecting a world war between now and 15 years anyway.

..end of tangent

If there's another world war, I'll be drafted by the Army, sent to either China or Iran, and killed by a hostile sniper.

@nnxion: How do you afford to even run a car at $6.67 a gallon? My guess is a lot of people that live near prices like that are fond of their bikes.

@OP: Your LAN party sounds cool, I'm in Alabama, but it would be a bit far for me to drive for a LAN party. Good luck with it though.
