Please suggest a paper on how x86 chips work at the hardware level.
I need it to put some things into laymen's terms for me. It doesn't have to be too detaild, but I would prefer that it at least prepare me for a very detaild guide. At any rate, the final goal is to have a very detaild knowledge on how cpu's work. I thank you very much for your time and help; Josh

This will likely help you as well, though perhaps it is a bit more abstract than you are looking for?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cpu There are also several good books... like this one: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=books&n=507846

Thanks a lot for the links! I would've thanked you sooner, but. Well, I haven't been on the site much.
