Introduction and assembler question:

Hello,
Just found this forum and liked the looks of it so much I decided I had better join. I took up programming as a hobby about 2 years ago. I have managed to learn Basic and have become fairly proficient at C++ and now am beginning to play with assembly a little bit.

I am using MASM 6.15 to learn assembler, but I have been told that MASM is an antique and should switch to an assembler that supports 64 bit programming such as FASM. Others tell me that the 64 bit assemblers are much harder to learn and have less supporting documentation. At the risk of starting a debate I wonder if anyone here has any opinion on which assembler a hobbyist programmer should use to learn?

Thanks
Bill

MASM32 will probably work just fine - if you're a Linux person, go for NASM.

Welcome to the forums!
