I don't understand why you would try to protect an e-book. They're probably one of most simplest things to get on the internet besides porn, movies, and games. Even if you can stop a friend from linking another friend, they will just send the e-book directly, put it all over as torrents, put it up on ftp, etc. You're better off just making it free.

I have written a e-book websites that is with fool proof security system.
I use headers and security code to do that.

When I sell e-book I make a security code in the database to identify the order and also offer the same to the e-book buyer in the URL

And when user click on the e-book URL provided to him that takes him to a page where we receive the security code and query the database
it the security code is correct then we will offers the e-book by header redirect so that the page link cannot be even see if one try to look at the source as source don’t have any link to the url of e-book

I did this on http://googleebooks.com. I made the complete websites for $2200 for my client and it took me 2 day's to think how it can be done

well i just cnnot offer you the source free but i told you the idea
