Yeah, fight club is awesome. The movie was awesome and the book was just as good, if not better. My favorite book of all time would have to be Catch-22. Hilarious, if you get the idea of it early on.

You guys realize that Robert Jordan is said to compete, storywise and in writing ability, with J.R.R. Tolkien (Not saying alot there really cuz ive tried to read LoTR and I keep falling asleep, GREAT movies, terrible writing, IMO) anyway, most readers compare their stories, and even alot of ppl (including myself) think he's better than Tolkien.
I stick with my opinion that Martin is only mediocre, but only because im comparing him to really great authors, most of you dont seem to have read The Wheel of Time, Sword of Truth, Dragon Prince/Dragon Star. (I'll only use these as an example cuz Anne Rice is Gothic Horror, not Fantasy, although still great, and Dave Duncan is on a level with George R. R. Martin) If you read all 3 of these series(there are currently 24 books total and climbing...Goodkind and Jordan have yet to conclude there series'), and STILL like Martin better, you are either doing it to be stubborn or cuz you have terrible taste in books.

All for now!

Figured I'd just add what i mean by mediocre.....
I say he's Mediocre because I can put down his books for days at a time.... with the other authors I mentioned.... even after I read them once, when I start reading them I find every spare moment I have to read them, THAT makes a great author and story, when they cause readers to do that... Mediocre is something that is a good story, but doesnt have that page turning quality.
And trust me, I have to know this crap, cuz I am trying to write my own Novel.
Perhaps one day you'll see it published! lol

Fair enough. I was just kidding earlier, anyway. I've read all of Jordan's books about 5 times each (with the exception of New Spring), and I love 'em. Just think they're getting slow now... I like the descriptiveness, but I wanna see something happen.

Oh, and no one beats the Master. Try reading The Hobbit first - might help with LotR.

I have, first page on both books puts me to sleep. he is boring as hell. lol

I would highly recommend Dragon Prince and Dragon Star series though, Melanie Rawn writes those. Extremely good books.
