Newsletter software?
A guy at work here was publishing a monthy newsletter, and he was fired. When he left he formatted his laptop and took the newsletter software he was using with him....so now I am in charge of publishing it. They searched the mail server and found the list of people that get it, now I just need software to help me send it out and manage the list.
Any ideas on software to use? I've never done this before and dont know anything about this particular software! ![]() Thanks, JD |

depends on if you want like a basic mailing list type of thing... if so, MajorDomo comes to mind?
http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/M/Majordomo.html If you want more graphics based things for the actaul design of the newsletter, check out Adobe or Gimp... MS Word has a few templates too I think.

What system do you use? A popular one with the clients I work with is mailman, use it with linux and exim. If you use it from the command line its pretty down and dirty but works fine. It doesn't have anything to do with setting up presentation, mostly just managing the list memberships and settings, and actually sending the mail.

The company hired you for the job, which you don't even have a clue how to do? Perhaps you should find a smarter company. They don't sound like they're going to go too far.

JDStud6... I work for the US Dept of Defense also... I can relate to your situation. Putting an engineer on a newsletter is an absolute waste of knowledge, perhaps you should request that something as trivial as this gets assigned to a contract student, if one is available.

Re: Newsletter software?
You can use an email service provider services or purchase a software to dispatch newsletters.
An email service provider is more profitablle if you do mailing rarely and to a small amount of users, as the price depends on it. If you need to do mass mailing very often to a big database of subscribers? then it's better to get a newsletter software for mass maling, make a one time payment and email unlimited number of emails as often as you wish. PG Newsletter Software will also suit your needs at this point |

Re: Newsletter software?
We use Lotus Notes at my company for our newsletters. Sometimes the newsletters are embedded, sometimes they are attached as files.
