You can also do some really neat tricks with CSS, like JavaScript-free rollovers (good in these days where internet explorer users are afraid to enable JS) and switching stylesheets alone to switch between a 'standard' view and a 'printable' view (nice if you can pull it off, but the only portable way is with a server-side script of some kind). Which brings me to my other comment - CSS is another portability can of worms.

I recently spent hours on a beautiful page with some nice-looking CSS hacks that was still perfectly functional in Lynx. Pleased as anything, I fired up IE and it looked like horseshit in that.

And since when do IE users know what JavaScript is?

For many years. Not every non-techno-weenie is stupid, it's just a stupid assumption of some techno-weenies.

Not knowing javascript doesn't make you stupid. But if you are a 'techno-weenie', you'd assume that. And since 'non-techno-weenie' are assumed not to know JS, they're deductively assumed stupid by 'techno-weenie'. Such assumption is considered stupid by non-techno-weenie. Say wha

EDIT: oh btw, CSS is neat.

OK, that was soo OT it's unbelievable. I'm not even going to ask about the techno-weenie thing, because I don't know JavaScript yet. Working on it though.

I'm starting out with HTML and CSS ( I did some for my IT GNVQ, WYSIWYG admittedly, but then trawled through the code to make it much better, much to the annoyance of my IT teacher), but already, I'm learning to appreciate it. TIME SAVER ALERT!

No need to dredge up old threads when the OP's question has been answered. If you have a question, please start a thread.

CSS if very functinable and is used in alot of webpages. It make web desining easier but you probably already read that in pretty much all of the post in this thread. As for people using IE being stupid, That is a rediculus claim. Some people prefer different browsers, that doesn't make them any stupider than the next...
