Hello everyone!
I'm looking to find any interesting books, worth purchasing, on Batch files...anything that can help me set up some automated processes. For Windows of course..but that's implied i guess. Should i be looking for plain DOS books, or is there anything else more helpfull? Any suggestions? ![]() |

There is a place in the Control Panel where you can specify your OS, languages, etc., so that they show below your moniker. This helps with the types of questions that hinge on those factors. While .bat is generally an indication of Windows, the 'batch file' far predates the existence of the PC, so the reference is not a given. To be even more irritatingly pedantic, DOS is an acronym for "disk operating system", and is not a synonym for MS-DOS or the more modern command processor that Windows now uses.

DaWei: Actually, the DOS in MS-DOS stands for "Dirty Operating System." I'm serious; when they originally ripped of CP/M they called it QDOS (Quick and Dirty Operating System).
Either that or I'm believing someone's bull. It's nice bull, though, if it is. I like it. |

I don't care whether it's apocryphal or not, I'm for "Dirty Operating System." Even in those bygone days we all knew enough to write reentrant code for an OS. Well, ALMOST all....
