Wiki progress?

I was thinking of this when I read this.
How is the progress on this? Or is this discontinued?
I have no knowledge of web programming and wiki's but it seemed like a good idea. Maybe I just missed something..

I am considering hosting tutorial and other helpful material in a "Contributor's Corner" format. The material will be strictly tutorial, no commentary (not a forum, in other words). You can see a first cut at the format at Contributor's Corner. This is a provisional treatment of Grumpy's material on C++ exceptions.

Commentary from all members is solicited. You may make it here, or use the "Contact" link in the footer of any page of the document. The first cut requires JS enabled -- it manipulates the pages on the client. Any finished version will have a non-JS document, as well.

Anyone interested in providing material or in reviewing potential material may contact me at the same link. Editability for contributors will be provided by keeping their material in a folder that they have FTP access to. There are a few simple additional requirements to aid in separation of presentation and content. Primarily, it's the breaking of the material into separate files for each section and designating appropriate section headings. Code blocks are accomodated, as you'll see in the exemplary material.

Is using http://www.mediawiki.org/ an idea? Problem with that is that not only the author can edit. On the other hand that is also be a big advantage. You can always lock topics to the public that are finished.

We could use something around here for that purpous. Tutorial use only, anyone should be able to edit at any time to imporove or whatever, but the orrginal author woul dhave to approve of it before letting the changes take place or something. This would insure the author's orrginal intent and keep people from just screwing around.

I think that a wiki is the way to go. Maybe just make getting a new account a little more strict.

A wiki with a whitelist rather than blacklist of users, perhaps. Only respected members allowed to edit the wiki.

Then again, what does a wiki bring to the table that we don't have already?

Well Tutorials and what not are not very organized right now. When/If I get a wiki working we will beable to have it organized and easier to get around and find the tutorials on topics of interest. I have been looking into adding a Wiki to the site. but the integration is a pain because MediaWiki user names deny Symbols like _ and Spaces in the name. They als don't allow lower case letters to be used for the first Letter in the name. I am still doing some research and might even decide on a different Wiki besides MediaWiki. But this is all still just an idea, I am still working on finding out how feasible it is
