Doesn't matter. GCC and Microsoft's Visual C++ compiler are the most popular these days, so libraries will probably give you a file for the GCC or the MS one to link the library to your executable.

GCC and Microsoft's Visual C++ compiler

Yes i just got the Microsoft compiler should i get the GCC one also what makes the difference in compilers is it the functionality or the conversion factor? a compiler is just a translator changing high language code to lower assembly langage code or its a linker that makes the differences?

It's just what you prefer. On some computers, GCC is faster, on other computers, the VC++ compiler runs better. It doesn't make a lot of difference in speed. IMO, a nice thing of the VC++ compiler is that the compiler and the IDE are created together, which means better integration.

Why don't you try OpenAL? It's cross-platform and it's used by numerous applications...

And your point is? Showing the capabilities of Atari BASIC means that what your respondents are telling you can't be right, regarding C/C++? If that's your point, you need a reality/attitude adjustment. Fact are facts and pissing and moaning doesn't change them.
