You're writing C++ code, right? Deep-six the batch file and write C++. If you have problems, explain them (and your goal) clearly and ask for further help.

True, but his code will be non-portable anyway because he wants to start an exe file (I don't know any other popular OSes using the exe format).

Also true, but if he decides to port the code, it's one fewer probable oversights when he adapts to a new environment.
