Job Opening
Hello,
Please Note: Before reading this post, pardon my lack of knowledge and technical terms when it comes to programming, it is not my strong point and my lead programmer is away and therefore not able to post. My name is Patrick Durkin, I have decided to create an MMOCC, but please, once you have read those five letters, do not roll your eyes and close the window for I am not another 'Habbo Wannabe' nor am I inexperienced. I have teamed up with a British government institute to create a business either online or offline. I have chosen to create an online community like this because of my experience and client related knowledge in this field. The reason I have chosen to create an MMOCC is because so many teenagers now are tired of seeing more and more communities open and then suddenly fail, or in some cases have no future the minute they begin. I have also noticed the same monotony each MMOCC has to offer, selling the same product or service. I believe it is time for a change and so; I plan to create something fresh and innovative. This is my Job Offer; I am in need of new (must be able to take part though) to skilled and advanced lingo programmers who can join with my designers and work in a team to create this project. -There are no age restrictions as this is my fundamental hate in life. -Each programmer must be able to contribute something in the project. -You must be able to work in a team. This project will either be isometric or 3D, most probably 3D. It is quite a large project and will take some time, though I believe that with the correct help this project could be a very good success. Please, post any questions or tell me if I have missed anything in my post that should be included. If you are interested, please either PM me or post here and I will PM you. Thank you, Patrick Durkin |

I have 2 questions.
1) Why Lingo? I have never heard of it so i used wikipedia to look it up, and from what I've seen it looks ... crap. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lingo_programming_language 2) How much are you paying? -Cold

I have just been asked by another person why I insist on Lingo, the reason is, that is what most MMOCC's are programmed with, or so I am lead to believe.
Unless I can get the same results with any other language, I would prefer lingo and maybe Java. |

Sorry, Yes I should have put that in my post.
MMOCC - Massive Multiplayer Online Chatting Community, and refering to you ColdDeath, I would not call it crap. But that is a matter of opinion. Habbo Hotel is a well known and the most popular... |

No worries, I jsut wasn't sure what it was refering to
![]() I haven't used Habbo Hotel, but I think i knwo what its like. I'm thinking Macromedia Flash would be quite good, but its not _real_ programming, and most people that use Flash aren't here. But someone may use it. Java would be good, but it's _evil_. You may find a poor soul to help you with it. But if you move away from browser based "games/chatting communities" you could use any language, and that would probably get a few people form here volunteering. But the users would have to download the program. But whatever language you do it in, it'd be hard. Thats why things like Habbo Hotel aren't popping up everywhere on the net. It would need be be compatible with different browsers if it is a browser based thing. And it will need to be very secure. And there would need to be a load of servers to handle all those people at once. If you're lucky you'll fidn a programmer who agrees with you idea and helps for free. But for the most part you'll have to pay a lot if you want someone to do this for you,a nd you'll need a whole team of programmers who can update fixes and bugs etc.

Thank you for the post ColdDeath, and yes, I may find someone who is willing to help for free, but at the moment, a programmer has given me a quote to expect between, £2500 - £6000 for him and two others to fully code the game in his own made engine, with all tools (more tools needed the higher the price) and art fully coded into the game.
