Good Java Editors

Does anyone have advice or any suggestion on free Java application/applet program creater/editor, I don't kno what you guys call it. I'm kinda new to programming, I have novice knowledge of Visual Basic but really really want to learn Java, which I have gotten "Sams Teach Yourself Java 2 in 21 days", I found it pretty good too! I downloaded Eliscpe but found it unusual. idk maybe it's because I'm a in-trainging web developer. I know HTML, CSS, and XML really well but really want to know Java and other programming languages so it will look good for me!

Any suggestions??

A lot of them do as I've found, sadly.

I like eclipse a lot, but it's so picky about code. I've had code that would not compile in eclipse, but I copy --> paste into jGrasp and it works. I'd reccomend those 2, and get netBeans of course for bigger projects. It's just nice to have.
