It's not making anything less readable. I definitely prefer the += syntax. Quicker to pronounce in your head and easier on the fingers

Same here, actually - I actually find it easier to read than the other stuff. But then I think x++; makes sense.

I have a question though: how do you remove a character from the output? Sort of like C and C++'s \b

\b works in Python too.

print "hello \bhello"
output:

or more importantly:
