How do I set-up this damn thing! I borrowed the cd from my friend b/c I'm taking this VB class which I just learned how to make some cool programs and now I am interest in VB, so I have to install it to my computer but when I said click on set-up it says, "The Installion Wizard has detected a potentially conflicting verison of a Visual Studio 6.0 product on your machine. One or both products may not work after installing this product. The ReadMe topic 'Side by Side Product Installion' describes the supported combinations. Do you want to continue." After I click on yes, It says it has encountered an error and needs to be closed! Someone please help!! I want this program so I can do some practice at home for this VB class!

I am not 100% sure, but I feel, you may have had a previous versoin of VB installed in your computer.
Which OS are you using XP or 2000? If you have some registry cleaner (a safe one, u wud trust), run it to remove faulty entries that might cause error! Also state whether it has a description of the error.

Trying to clean the registry of windows is akin to patching holes in a sinking ship using cream cheese. I would suggest a clean reinstall of everything (including the OS), though a good place to delete would be HKLM\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\6.0 and any other VB related ones if you're feeling destructive. When you insert the VB CD if the options are available you could also try doing an Uninstall or Repair; System Restore is also an option.

That sounded a little bit like DaWei, Rory. Lol!
Quick question reggaeton_king, has your friend uninstalled VB 6 from his machine? If he hasn't, that may be part of the problem. You can download an exclent registrycleaner (regcleaner) from http://www.worldstart.com/weekly-dow...cleaner4.3.htm

Heh, I wish we could all just make 100% error-free code...
Hmm, if your friend lives close to you, you could try putting the cd in his drive and seeing if the installer comes up, if it does, click cancel and try it on your pc... @polyphemus_ - Some cd's have security settings that can tell if the data on them has already been installed on one pc. My friend tried installing a game of mine while I still had it installed and something came up that said it couldn't be done because it was already installed.

well, to tell you guys the truth, he copied all the files from the cd and basically made a copy of the cd in a compressed folder. I don't have the CD. I have all the files and serial#.

Heh, I see now why it won't work. I believe what you are doing is illegal. You could always go out and buy VB 6.0, or if you have Microsoft Word, you could see if you can get the hidden VB compiler to work in that.
