We await your advice with bated breath. Or something.

Let's be up front about this, BJ. A lot of people can benefit from information they haven't been previously presented with. Your problem is not one that's restricted solely to you, it's rather widespread. As you discover new things, you think that you are the original discoverer. Young people and sex is a perfect example. Your biggest problem is that you have yet come to realize that you are WAYYYYYYYYY behind the curve in terms of various items of knowledge that may be acquired. Your second biggest problem is that you can't quite come to realize that fact. You have an amazing need to be recognized and paid attention to. Consequently, you'd rather blather and be perceived as a fool, than pay attention and learn more from reading than you can from pounding a keyboard. I still highly recommend the practice of shutting the fuck up, going out and sitting on the top rail of the corral, and thinking. Engage the gear of your brain before popping the clutch of your mouth.

bja888, we welcome you as a member of the community here, but we don't need another priest. We have the people on these boards that can give an answer without the need to ever be corrected, neither of us are one of them. bja, I think you'd find it much more rewarding to try and be one of us than to try and get the praise of all of us... this goes for all things in life if you want to succeed in the real world while working around more people than just yourself behind a computer. Even programmers have to collaberate their efforts and communicate effectively to write programs that are too large for any one programmer to write.

Executable files? Like BackOrifice.dll.

Seriously if you want to get started with what is simply a way of getting a browser to communicate with a server via javascript, have a look at the suprisingly good tutorials on the Apple site (they're into it in a big way with all their iCrap). All I've used it for is part of an active desktop using LDAP authentication over XML to check emails, access files etc at my school, but it seems a pretty neat idea. Nevertheless like DaWei and others said, it's not the next miracle "technology". IMO Javascript is the pretender to the throne of true languages like proper Java.
