Well, my first thought was not that these issues would have a lot to do with disk access. The issues are not in actually loading Notepad/Wordpad. The issues only come up when I try accessing the Print or Page Setup dialogs from those programs.

And I was just idly wondering, not viewing it as a critical problem. I'm pleased that so many people have offered suggestions, and it is a reminder that in general, I do need to do a better job of cleaning up my hard drive than I've been doing, regardless of whether it has anything to do with this particular issue or not.
