'Twas C for me. Loved every minute of it. Yes, including pointers.

BASIC wasn't made by Microsoft...
Unless you are trying to say Visual Basic. Which was.

Most of us seem to have learned BASIC first, ...wwooo..
Microsoft had a great dominant market position..I must say!
Sorry to disillusion you, but Basic was not a Microsoft invention; nor was Microsoft in existence when many of us learned it.

First Delphi (when I didn't grasp the concept that the statements were executed in order!), then QBASIC where I learnt alot about basic constructs (for, while, if etc...) and developed some sloppy coding styles. Then I worked with Visual Basic a small amount, a bit of JavaScript, Perl, high-level scripting languages like that. I returned to Delphi as by far my favourite language.

In order of real-languageness, PC-LOGO, VB and Delphi. Some abortive attempts at Turbo BASIC, Turbo Pascal and Clipper early on.
