/* getenv example: getting path */
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>

int main ()
{
  char * buffer;
  buffer = getenv ("PATH");
  if (buffer!=NULL)
    printf ("Current path is: %s",buffer);
  return 0;
}
Taken right from here.
To see your variables check here.
A list of default variables can be found here.

Don't worry about Tempest, he's insane, bitchy, and suffers from man-PMS. A potent combination.

DaWei, however, is our resident wise and experienced sage. (read: old)

Is it a joke? You just revived a 7-month old thread.

Funny this is. PRM (the OP) has this thread in his signature as an example of how NOT to post a question. Now the same thread has an example of how NOT to revive a thread.
