I can't recall using the standard divide sign once since elementary school. For that matter, I only use the standard multiplication sign (x) for scientific notation.

I would just like to see everybody stop using this thread as an oppertunity to brag about their high IQ's (especially near the beginning of the thread ).

<rant>

I am not saying that I am not considered intelligent, but far too often in enriched classes, or topics that I am interested in, the only concern people have is beeing better then someone else.

Why can't these environements be learning ones?
In this math class I am taking (enriched), everyone is so concerned with looking intelligent, that nobody asks question, and 3/4 the class does not understand the concept (including me).

So much more could be accomplished if people were more open!

*sigh*

</rant>

and just so that this post does not seem wholly random and off-topic ( ):

I believe ( like others have already said ), that programming helps you plan your course of action when tackling work or everyday life.

for example:

Lunch time:
if(have_time)
     goto restaurant
else
     goto cafeteria

go_to_liberary = work == not_done ? true : false

if(go_to_liberary)
     study();

end Lunch

I've noticed that I've become a lot more structured. You should see my notes. They are almost freakily organized with indentations and all the stuff. I feel that my logic has improved, though the reason I started programming is like most people, I already had pretty good logic.

I organise all the shit on my computer to freakishly weird standards, but anything school-related is still in one huge pile.
