If so, in what? |

Im from England. I learnt from http://python.org/doc/2.4.1/tut/tut.html
Then i got a book called "Python 2.1 Bible" by Dave Brueck and Stephan Tanner. It's not a bad book. |

Sun has a pretty good tutorial on Java, it explains everything about java from scratch. Take a look.
Although Java might not be as easy as Python, but Java is a more powerful language and has wide applications. |

Thank you for repling OpenLoop ..But do you think it's a good idea to learn Java first?
I have no previous experience in any programming language.

That's for you to decide. The first language we had to learn in college was C which is not that easy. Read the first lesson or so and see if you can keep up. Java is a hot skill these days.
