I've been focusing on the colors so much that i messed up the content. I fixed it now. BTW Lich, do you have that Jpeg with the welcomes
Thanks for all the help.

EDIT: P.S @ skuinders: who needs the CIS Departement anyway. Thanks for the heads up, I deleted the link because the CIS website is ugly. Here judge it yourself http://www.engin.umd.umich.edu/CIS/

wow, that is quite horrific, especially for a place like Michigan. Granted it's the dearborn campus, but still. I love how they can't even add a target=_blank to their external <a href>s so that the new sites still open in the frame. ugh.

At baker, our site used to be ugly as hell, all done up in frames and purple. It looked awful. They finally implimented a CMS with coldfusion this year and it looks alot better. This is the site, but the solar system and star system still have the old design, which you can see for yourself

Well it is the dearborn campus(look at the logo), but the CIS department website is an exception. You can see the umd website and the ECE website. They are both well designed because they were contracted to a company but the CIS was left over to a professor who hates flash, javascript, and anything beyond html so it turned out uglier than the "old solar system website at baker". You know, for a college, baker has a nice website. Here's my college website

He can contract it out to me, I'll do it

Henry Ford has a great site, looks like a big univ. site and it's easy to find stuff. All things considered, Baker should have a better site though. Considering it's the largest private college in the state and 3rd largest overall (behind Michigan and MSU) when you count all campuses and students.

That puke yellow on the left navbar is a little off-putting, maybe change it to the attractive tan of the thin navbar above it? The crimson and tan go well together, IMO.

hmm, it does look better now. I'm still not sure what color the links should be. I have them set for black now but that makes'em hard to see in regular text.

There isn't a thing wrong with black and white and two to four other colors. There is some misperception that since an entire color wheel and entire warehouses full of fonts are available, that one should use them all. Not the case. You seem to be enjoying this; let me recommend that you see if you can find a book by Molly Holzschlag. The one she put out 5 or so years ago is, to me, her best, but I've slept since then, so I don't remember the title. Unless she's improved since I talked to her, forget her script examples. She is (or was) a designer, not a programmer.

I searched for Molly Holzschlag on Amazon.com and got some 81 results, probably redundant, but all about CSS and HTML.
Matching colors, color wheels, accents, you need to have an "eye" for those things, I happen not to. Now I'm glad the website turned out ok but I think I'll stick to arrays, functions, and classes.

She was a highly successful and knowledgeable site designer years ago, and is a big pusher of standards. Don't know how she's doing these days. She has a site at www.molly.com, not entirely my cup of tea, but I like it sometimes.
