Talking Hello im just another newbie

Hello all I am a 17 y/o senior in highschool and want to become a computer programmer as a career. I have been off and on trying to learn programming and it seems everytime I start I stop because I don't know what the next step I need to take is. I have learned most of html but the only reason I learned it was because it was so simple. I was wondering what the next step I needed to take was I would like to learn C++ one day but jumping right into it is like learning to swim in the middle of an ocean. I was wondering if I should learn basic or visual basic or one of those types of languages. I need a place to start and I will spend as much time as needed on learning. Anyways anyone feel free to comment and also hello to everyone.

First of all, welcome to the forums.

Secondly, I would certainly think that Basic would make learning C++ a lot easier, but many people start off with C++ right off the bat, so it's completely up to you.

Enjoy yourself here.

Welcome. I think you should go for C++. Search the forums for tips and links to tutorials and eBooks.
