First of all I realize this is a popular thread in most forums, that why I searched for similar threads here and found next to nothing. I say "next" because there was a one thread
about this but it only had two screenshots.
But if in anycase I missed one... Well... sorry!:p

Anyway, this is the wonderfull and exciting "show off your desktop here" thread. Just post and image of your desktop and let others comment on it. Since I got myself a new wallpaper I thought it was time to make one of these threads.

In anycase avoid posting the image here as it apparently annoys ppl with slower connections, and it sucks the bandwidth out of the forum (which sometimes is bad enough as it is).

My desktop doesn't have the flashiness of all the resource hogging programs that end up being a bit usless. Since my computer is a bit outdated (P4 2.4ghz w/ 768mb of DDR400 memory a Radeon 9600Pro 256mb EE and 180gb IDE HDD) I have to place my bets in stability and performance and not on pretty icons. Sadly enough though, as I sometimes enjoy a good flashy icon.. :p

Here's the link to my desktop:
http://www.broax.com/images/desktop.jpg (413kb = 73s @ 56k; 8s @ 512k; 2s @ 2m)

As you can also see I'm bored out of my mind with too much study... But I hope you all enjoy de desktop/thread....

Now c'mon! it's your turn!

If you post your desktop as an image, be kind to people with dial-up. I'll post a screen shot as soon as I finish some work.

LOL, L7, Jerry Pournelle used to name all his systems, and one was "Lucy Van Pelt"! It was his original hard-driveless IBM PC.

Here is my desktop machine (the one I use for real work). My laptop has all of the aesthetic memory munching stuff... I will post that one later.

Skuinders has a desktop more or less after my own heart! I come from the days when ANYTHING on there sucked resources when there were none to spare, and I'm such a fogey I don't change.

Okkkey... admit my full ignorance :o
I have like 10 to 15 icons on my desktop as shortcuts and some stuff directly saved to the Desktop, so reading this from DaWei ...about sucking resources ... i'm embarrased to post my shot.
Why exactly is it not desired, what happens and so on...? yeah, so i don't know what happens past the loggin (school machine), but if you guys explain i'll be a full byte smarter
