for some reason, none of my masm programs will run. its driving me mad, since I know the code is right.

I just started learning ASM, and ive been working on stuff like iczelions win32 tutorial.

ive messed with several assemblers, and I just about gave up on masm for nasm because of this, but after getting frustrated that NASM couldnt find my source code even though I added it to the path and directed it towards the file, I figured eff it, and went back to masm hoping it was something I did wrong.

but its not. earlier today I got up a few hello world message window examples, then I tried to re-assemble them later, and lo and behold -- every single one freezes my PC and locks itself into memory so I cant delete it until restart. Ive tried just about everything, unless im using the wrong assemble options or something. the code is all straight out of masm tutorials. and it has worked earlier, its simple stuff.

I dont have the faintest clue why its doing this to me, all of the source assembles and links without a single error. but when it comes time to run, it just wont. wheel spins forever and thats that.

nevermind guys, its somehow avast. it keeps doing this to all my binaries for some reason. maybe it thinks they are viruses and prevents them. it did this to some C++ programs too, but when I switched to GCC I could easily forget about it, unlike in visual studio.

masm gives me errors about ordinals 201 and 203 when installing, but does work. I just spent hours messing with this for no reason other than a stupid incompetent antivirus.
