Choosing a GUI Toolkit

I'm working for a lab at my local university, and I'm supposed to build a graphical user interface for their data mining algorithm. The language that was picked was python(obviously, since I'm here and all.) and I was trying to decide which toolkit to use. There was some dislike for the Tkinter kit expressed by the guy who is running the lab, though it's not entirely off the table. Another option that looks very good was the wxPython toolkit.

As far as requirements, I'll need to post a graph, and allow the user to click on individual data points that can bring up other options. The program will be used by others (it is being marketed and everything) so I was also wondering how difficult it would be to install the wxPythong toolkit on the end user side of things.

Re: Choosing a GUI Toolkit

pretty much any toolkit worth its weight in salt will accomplish what you require. If I were you I would pick the most widely used (I assume thats wxPython), and play with it. Avoid spending more time trying to answer this question than it would take you to actually implement your project in either toolkit.

As far as installing one toolkit opposed to the other, this is the least of your worries. Ease of installation does not directly translate into powerful and clear API's.
