This will all be moot in a year or two when the newest apple computers come out on an Intel platform right? :-D

In-who? I tell ya, Rev, if the IBM clout hadn't reshaped the market sans technical considerations, Little Blue would have been a second-tier player. National's early microprocessors sucked rocks but just before the 80286 came out they produced a 32008, a 32016, and shortly afterwards, a 32032. All had an internal 32-bit bus. Whooped even Zilog, who's Z8000 was the best around at the time. Of course, WITHOUT the IBM interference the personal PC market might be about 10 years behind where it is. One never knows, do one?
EDIT: Welcome to PFO, good to see you again, and hope you aren't still totally snowed under.

The what-if game can be fun. I can also pretend to know about all those products you mentioned, but I don't. I am still wet behind the ears though and in all honesty don't know much about hardware history. I could tell you a little bit about NOR flash though. I even have a USB key with NOR flash on it (I don't even think you can buy one of those because that's a NAND product). That was my attempt to sound knowledgable.
Thanks for the welcome, it's good to be back. |
