Re: Easy 2D game board display (Console)

ROFL! Had a mental block against BFH, so I looked it up on an acronym and slang website.

It came back as "B*tch From Hell", and I was wondering just WHY SMJ would want one of those!

Something tells me that website was more slang than acronyms!

And I don't see any chess board in your screenshot, SMJ.

Couldn't interest you in a B*tch from Hell, eh? Imagine that!

Do you know how to make a new project in MSVC++ for C programs?

Did you save the source file with a dot c file extension, and include it into the project?

Since I've never used MSVC, it's hard to give you advice on how to run a C program.

Maybe Ancient Dragon can fill in all the details for you.

Re: Easy 2D game board display (Console)

It's very easy -- just name the source file with a *.c extension instead of *.cpp. After the project is completed just right-click on the filename in Solution Explorer and select the Rename menu item. An alternative is to create a project with no files then add a new file with *.c extension.

Ok the reason why I said I need a big $&#**^% hammer is because of the Avast pop up in the right hand bottom corner the program it’s self worked just fine. I thought I fixed the Avast issue but apparently I spoke to soon, and yes the file is in fact .c instead of .cpp!

Re: Easy 2D game board display (Console)

I was curious why you needed one.

Maybe it's time to switch to free AVG?

Re: Easy 2D game board display (Console)

I can't believe we are still talking about a hammer.

I was subjecting I go get a big one so I could beat my computer with it. Anyways my antivirus is free! Are you just thinking that if I change the one I have it might know enough to leave my compiler alone?

One more thing I have noticed that when using the .c to do just C programs it only allows me to declare identifiers/variables in one way. As appose to in C++ there are many different ways. I never knew that C is so fixed. I have however have known C++ is more flexible in the way of declaration, but now know why everything written in C is always so traditional looking.

Yes, c++ is more flexible. The newest C standards which is just a year or so old allows you to declare variables anywhere just like c++. Unfortunately, Microsoft compilers have not yet implemented that feature, even in VC++ 2012. The latest version of gcc and MinGW have implemented that feature.
