CC with .NET?

Alright, I didn't know even where to start with this one!
I'm looking to build a program that can moniter a DVD's closed captioning. Does anyone know where I can get an API that will let me connect to it? I'm at a loss here.
Thanks!

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but it looks kind of interesting.

http://www.fofic.nl/download/pdf_map...map_family.pdf

it says it is integrated in the .NET framework and apparently has features such as close caption extracting.

looks like it might be something you need to purchase though. I didn't look real in-depth at it, if that's not what you're looking for let me know and i'll see what else i can dig up.

it just seems like getting it from a DVD may prove to be a difficult thing to do, since companies are encrypting them now, but this API or whatever it is claims it can get the meta-data containing closed captions.

i'm not sure how long you can expect this to work into the future though if you do get it running, sony just placed some kind of lawsuit on the last guy who cracked their encryption and got a court order to make him stop decrypting their future releases.

does your program decrypt the DVD first or are you trying to just rip it right off? or are we even talking about commercial DVD's such as blockbuster DVD's or are you talking about homemade?

I've had people ask me about a DVD player that can filter language for their kids; I've seen a sort of pass-through for TVs (such as the TV-Guardian), but so far there haven't been any turn-ups for a PC based DVD player. I thought of building a simple app that runs in the background and processes the CC, muting the volume when an expletive is found. However, to do that, I would need the CC.
Thanks for the help! Unfortunately, I don't think that this would work quite right in my situation.
I wonder if this would be easier as a MediaPlayer plugin...
