I'm in a rage, and I'm going to kill you if you ever use Visual Basic 6.

No, but dude seriously, use VB.net, which is like 100 times better. And darn easy, you can move to C# if you feel VB.net is not pushing your buttons.

Visual Basic won't give you much props in the programming world, just to let you know. That's for good reason too, it's because VB runs 100x slower than a C++/C# application. I would suggest C#, since it has been tested to run even faster than C++. C# is also better for many other reasons like OOP structure and such. If you really want to know about C#, talk to uman.

Tempest did you actually test that? VB6 is a LOT slower than C# yes. But C# should only slighty outperform VB.NET at almost anything as it both gets translated to IL (intermediate language) which should only be slightly different, maybe some extra variables or nop's added in the VB.NET one. If one can program applications right then one can make C++ faster or at least as fast as C#.

But please, if you want to learn Visual Basic, learn VB .NET. Unlike VB6, it's very object-oriented, and has been proven to be almost as fast as C++ in some cases. Of course, it's been proven to go a lot slower too, but the .NET framework makes up for that.
