I stand corrected, Python is gaining a foothold in some software houses. Most likely in places where you need a fast project turnaround or have to be somewhat innovative. The good news is, you can make a living writing in Python, and have fun too.

It's used a lot for plugins in software packages - for example, Paint Shop Pro uses Python as its scripting language. I also know that Google uses it more than they use PHP or Perl.
