I use Scite, but mainly VS2003 or 2005.
I'm using the student edition of those, so if I ever distribute something, I use SharpDevelop. In the past, though, I've used an Apple II and Dev-C++.

Many different things actually.. depending on the language and the operating system, here is the breakdown:

Windows:
* PHP/Perl/HTML/XML: Macromedia Dreamweaver
* C/C++/C#/XML: Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003

Linux:
* PHP/Perl/HTML/XML: Either KWrite (over FISH://) or KWebDev
* C/C++: Anjuta or KDevelop (usually KDevelop)
* C#: Mono Develop

Notepad blows... it is like using a screwdriver to hit in a nail when you have a hammer beside you... and don't say you do not have the hammer... google "SharpDevelop" or "Eclipse".

Visual Studio 2005? That is currently Beta I though, and you need an MSDN subscription to get access to them.. and usually the academic aliance members are not eligible. Where did you get it from?
