Red face I am the one called... Lightninghawk

Hey everyone,

I am as you can see. The one, the only, The Lightninghawk.
Thank you, Thank you.

Anyway, I have been looking for a forum that deals with programming for a while now.
1. Because I want to learn programming
2. Becuase I really want to learn programming
3. Because I operate a tech support forum.
4. Because I really really want to learn how to program.

Catch my drift?
I appologize if this is obnoxious and annoying. I'll be serious now. Because they say the first impression is what leaves the truest mark.

My name is Daniel. I just turned 18 May 27, 2005 WoW! YaY for me!
I am right now taking (CIS)Computer Information Systems Classes at East Central Technical College in Doulgas, Georgia.
According to my instructor I am his best student, but they do not yet offer any serious programming classes. They offer on Visual Basic .NET class, but they play it off as a joke. So I never really was able to get serious with it.
Two others that wanted to learn to program had to quit the class and just went home to learn it because of the class atmosphere around here.

I fairly recently started getting involved with computers. In the last year I guess. I'm what you might call a Wiz in Microsoft Office. I also love a challenge so my teacher sent me straight to the busted up computers and the ones simply infested with Spy-ware and Viruses.
By doing this I taught myself a lot just trying to figure out how things got in and how to get them off. I still consider myself as a n00b just a more advanced n00b.
As I said. I have a Tech Support forum that I run so feel free to come by anytime and check it out. www.thetechbase.com

As far as programming goes. I do not know very much, and what really made me want to learn about and how to program was in dealing with the viruses. I want to be able to understand how they were built and how they work. It makes my job so much easier knowing what to expect out of them.
I know how to code HTML. For small web pages and such. Not that it's a language or anything, but it is a start.
Though I may not know the languages I'm a great script analyzer. It's amazing some of the weird errors I can pick out of code that I have never seen before.

I think that Intro is long enough. Probably will add more later, but for now that's really all their is on the computer side.

Other things I plan to do with my life include.
Starting Nursing school this fall at South Georgia College - Associates degree.
then moving on to VSU (Valdosta State University) - Master's in nursing.

One more thing. I am great with math and one of my high points on crazy IQ tests is Logic. Will this be of any help to me in programming?

Any posts that I might have dealing with Programming Code. Is possibly a post on my site asking for help. As I said. I am fairly good with analyzing code. But there are times when other things come into play.

For example. That Pascal Question I posted. Is not my own program, but the fellow needed help. And I'm not scared to ask in other places

Hi there, why on earth do you want to do nursing school when you can do programming?
Yes logic will help you with programming, and if you show some effort we will be glad to help you whenever possible. You might want to try read some tutorials. I recommend doing either: C# (also because you have VB.NET), Python, Java, or C++.
I wish I had started with C#, it's object-orientated, and you can get great results quickly, depending on how fast you learn, it will take you a few hours and you will have your first GUI program (in Windows I presume).

Thanks uman, you wouldn't believe how long it took to find letters that would be accepted on most forums.

And

Thanks nnxion, I choose nursing as well as the IT field because both will be around for a long time. I know I'm young to be talking about my future, but I think it's best to always have a backup.
When I finish nursing it will also allow me to put more time in to computer studies.
What I didn't mention is that I want to dual major with computer sciences if the workload isn't too much. I'm hoping that I will be able to get a full scholarship so that I won't really have to worry about a job during the time that I am in school so that I can devote all of my time to my studies
I know I may have to keep a part time job, but I have one already at the local hospital. Have since last November. The nice thing I was only 17 when they hired me, which was too young to hire. But I'm such a good worker they had a special meeting called to discuss hiring me.
I feel special LoL all that hard work I put into school and working for many different people really paid off there.
