You don't have to make a GUI for this, CLI is fine. A GUI will win you big points on usability and features, but it's certainly bad for exe size and probably bad for efficiency.

This sounds like a bit of a waste of time. If you win, you get to spend more of your time judging more work! Yay! If you don't, you just spent your weekend writing something that's no use to you and doesn't cut it. Hooray! Alright, admittedly, some coding might be fun, but you might as well use your time constructively.
We ought to have some kind of competition that merely encourages a weekend of creative, useful coding. For example, google's summer of code encourages this -- but we can't exactly offer cash prizes. I figure we should either make the challenge smaller, cuter and funnier, or broaden up the task. Entries could be judged upon code quality, style and efficiency, although harder to judge as a whole.

Nuticulus, you're welcome to open up your own challenge and run it parallel to mine. This has no official blessing from anyone, just something I decided to do.

You each have about seven and a half minutes to submit your entries...

You all lose, thanks for playing. I figured with the big interest in a weekend challenge, that someone would actually participate in it. I guess not.

Tempest has some new one up, that's more open ended. I might give it a shot.

It would probably have gotten more attention if it was more practical... and didn't remind us of our old college assignments... lol
