People including: mitakeet, grumpy, The Dark, Ancient Dragon, infamous41md, coldshadow and me found that to be a stupid move and we decided to leave. I mailed all those people and tried to get them back together, someone found this place and here we are.
People that also found the bannishment way too harsh and left are: stevengs, EverLearning, Nellie and possibly more.

Add myself to that list. I've been busy with studies and other offline matters as of late (including an interesting episode where I helped a friend deal with a seemingly-sociopathic stalker), but this past Tuesday, I found time during class to check the forums. I found a reference in someone's (Nellie's, I believe) sig to the banning of DaWei_M, and at first thought it was a joke. The following minutes convinced me it was no joke, and even though I was reading the 'aftermath version' of events (ie the one that had been content-filtered by JCaputo and others), it was clear that the actions of the administration were motivated not by what was good for the forum, but instead to assuage the ego of one man who happened to have the power to ban whoever he chose.

Since he indeed appears to be the owner of those particular forums, it is his right to ban for such trivial reasons, but if he thinks that his actions were/are in the best interests of the community, he is either willfully ignorant, delusional, or both.

edit: My sig is directed (at least in part) towards his skewed world view.
