Actually, that's not quite true. Some of the most articulate people I know curse like a sailor. Cursing is not really indicative of a small vocabulary or your level of intelligence, rather, cursing is just the norm. Secondly, you could be the most eloquent writer of all time, but it would be pretty much irrelevant here as long as you could express your ideas or questions on programming succinctly.

Perhaps you missed my use of the word, "usually". My statement stands, but is certainly not a legislation of other's opinions. Perhaps you also missed my reference to being a sailor, and the practice of the semantics thereof. I will add a new statement: obfuscated code and programming succintly are not the same thing.
Clearly, I am not a foe of outspokenness, having just been banned from a forum permanently after having "insulted admins", despite having contributed a large number of posts. I have lived in million-dollar houses and I have lived on the streets of the ghetto. I have worked in the boardroom and at day-labor. I have worked among high-ranking fools and among crackheads, speed-freaks, and drunks. A fool is a fool, whatever the reason. Good, solid product impresses me. Product that is successful as judged by the bottom line and by its contribution to the lives of ordinary people, in the marketplace. Some of my posts, should they occur, will address that sort of coding. It is my way. Some of my posts will provide actual, working code (though rarely production-level, in this environment), proposed as a direct solution for the OP. Whatever. I make mistakes. When I discover them, I apologize. I am not a believer in misleading neophyte programmers with protestations of my superiority and the putting forth of my personal preferences as law. I despise self-anointed gurus and high priests, every bit as much as I despise other fakes, whether their fakery is planned or just unthinking.

You know what's funny??? People complain about bad language, because THEY don't want to hear it. Why don't liberals stop bad-mouthing our country, because AMERICA doesn't want to hear it. Seriously, either you're with our nation or against it. Either way... stay, or get the fuck out.

Ok, Well i guess people are alittle confused about my rules here. As i dont condone cursing it has never been a problem to have to turn on the bad word filter. Not that i never will because atleast with the filter the word isnt there but yet the person can still type it if they truely want to but it would just show up as **** or something like that. If we decide i can turn on the filter if that will make everyone happy
Let me know ![]() Massive-War what does the debate about curse words have to do with liberals being against or for America? I mean this forum is an internation forum its not a forum dedicated to the US so will you stop posting about stuff like this please i think i have warned you before its not needed here thanks

I've briefly skimmed this over... I would like to make a statement and I may have read into this too far. However, cussing (yes i'm southern)... is common among people in our profession. I cuss all the time... and occasionally I spout off a few of them here.
Free speech is what its about. If someone wants to cuss, so be it. If you are having conflicts with that, stop reading the said thread. If there is a filter to be enabled... it should only be enabled at the individual account level. Your fields, your time in the industry, your experience... impressive, I'm so glad you all can "toot your own horns"... but that's not needed really. In my opinion, everyone here is equal. From the newbies to the software engineers (like me, toot toot). Furthermore, just because "big words" are used, doesn't really mean you are smart. The smart thing to do, would be to communicate on a level to which everyone involved can understand... sure while I may be a walking dictionary... I don't force people to look up definitions. Communication is the key on many levels. Yes, you will get "browny points" for being able to converse on a level that is above average. But why do you think a lot of "common" people avoid talking to technical people? They don't understand it, because our language is filled of acronyms and "big words". You need not impress us in this way, nor do you need to ridicule or belittle other members for expressing there opinions in the words they choose to do so. Furthermore, you need not dictate policy changes as we have been running relatively harmounious from the beginning. That said, coming back down from my tangent, I'm all about communicating on high levels with the "big words"... but most of the guys and few girls in here are young and spend their time writing code to get ahead of the curve, as opposed to thumping the dictionary for words to use every other month.

big_k, I'm sorry, lol
It's a joke. People hate it when I say stuff like that, so I bust on em a little bit. Quite humorous though.

Does making jokes earn you money?
I didn't think so. (OK, I'm done trolling you, I think I've made my point.) |

Well guys i know that cursing is a big deal to some people and some others dont really care. Personally i try and keep myself from doing it on the forums but in person i do, do it. maybe not alot but i do and i know alot of people who do but i also know alot of people who dont at all. So i think we can bring equilibreum to the forums so that everyone is happy. I want to make as many people happy to stay and use these forums as i can the point of these forums is to bring equal minded people together to discuss something we all love. Personally i dont see anything wrong with the way the forums currently are but if people do i do listen and if they have a valid point and others believe the same way i might be willing to change things.
just so you all know, I didn't create this forum to make money this forum was created cause I wanted a place to discuss programming that wasnt full of all the l33t speak if you know what i mean. This is all just part of my hobby. So lets see what we can do to make this place better for all of us. Thanks ![]()
