well, i know most the companies in my country let the programming part of IT be done by people in india and that sort of countries.. meaning, highly skilled people at low costs. i don't think it will be very easy to get a job as programmer without having extreme skills.

but just like thecristelegacy already said, you might be able to get a job which allows you to work from home, but also here goes, if you want to make money, you have to be extremely good.

i'm not saying this to discourage you, but that's just how i see it, programming as a job is a lot more difficult to get then a job where you must also be able to program, and know a lot of stuff more, something like security analist or something like that..
hope this helps you a little

yes, anoyingly true, i am gonan come out of uni and have a hard time trying to find a job, hence why i am starting a company far easier.

And if that fails become some techie support guy but thats just plain boring.

You can be a good programmer and write quality code, regardless of where you live... including Croatia... so grab a computer, grab a compiler and write some code

As far as jobs though, most of them here in the US that offers good pay requires you to have a college degree... you can also look at the following URLs.

Welcome to the board.

I have never held a 9 to 5 as a programmer and still have coded a lot for money. Maybe you should consider selling your services as a freelance programmer. There have to be companies accessible by the Web if nothing else that need outsourcing. I've had fair results selling my services locally on a face to face basis. Lots of firms will jump at the chance to streamline the software they are using if it saves time in the long run. I may have one advantage in that I am also a hardware tech and can blow my own horn to hardware clients on a regular basis.
I wish you luck whatever you decide
