Talking Want to make an os?

First of all, i have no idea where this post should go, but i was on another forum and they were making a community os built from the linux kernel source code, and i thought that would be a good idea. But then i realised i have'nt got a clue how to do pretty much anything, so... anyone want to make a sort of community os?

dam, i wish i had paid attention in french class more. i know it's french, but i can't understand!!!!

BTW: i doubt your going to find much interest in making a os around here, since like IR said, we can't even get work done on the current community project.

Well, Dizzutch, if you wouldn't mind pointing me to some material as to how that can be accomplished, I'd really appreciate it.

Actually writing a basic OS that loads from a floppy isn't hard.

When a computer starts, it attempts to read the first 512 bytes of data from the Disk in the Floppy Drive (A:\) and if it does it loads it as the kernel.
So just code your kernel, I recommend Assembly for this actually, it's the smallest and fastest, then just write it to a disk with a raw disk writing program, pop it in, restart, BAM, your own basic Operating System lives.
