Anyone ever program in the old basic?

I'm talking about the qbasic type and things like that. It actually was quite natural to do in terms of logic and difficulty level, it just wasn't very difficult.

People do use the "fake language" known as VB. Just cause I'm too stupid to learn C... anyway I'll have you know native VB.NET is far faster than C# at managed DirectX ... :p
I still want to learn C++ this summer!

I learned QBasic a long time ago, and can't really remember much of it anymore, but I remember doing some very trivial things with it. My dad, on the other hand, made some pretty good programs in Basic a long time ago.

I used to program basic on my TI-99 back in the mid-80's - a basic keyboard that had to be plugged into a TV. I had a "code your own games" book that gave you the code - you had to type it out (I remember tons of GOTO statments) and then record it onto a special cassette deck. To load it, you'd switch the computer to "Load" mode, then press play on the cassette deck and listen to 10 minutes of data transfer noise.

Damn that brings back memories. I had an old Commodore (I think) with a Buck Rogers game on tape. When that screwed up I found a library book like you described (in Basic). And you're right, LOTS of GOTO's, lol. I was in elementary school at the time, I believe.
