I agree... Show me examples with brief explanations and let me run with it.... the "For Dummies" series suck.

Ahem. C For Dummies, and any other book by Dan Gookin, rocks. Other Dummies books suck.

Yeah, I've heard great things about "C for Dummies". "C++ For Dummies" is, however, quite literally the most idiotic thing I've ever subjected myself to. Although it is the book I learned programming from (if you can really call that "programming"), it holds no special place whatsoever in my heart

Wink

Hello:
As far as my recommendation for the book goes, I don't know how 'popular' it is, but it's in depth and I do highly recommend it. It's called Proffessional C# 2nd Edition by Wrox Press.

.....you meantioned that C++ allows you to shoot yourself in the foot, but I have heard that you can reuse the bullet

.....on the other hand, Java allows you to shoot() Person.You.Self in the Self.Body.LowerTorso.Leg.Foot.

.....even more, I noticed in VB 6.0, it does allow you to shoot yourself in the foot but it will get C++ to do that, and either clean up the mess for you and pat you on the head or hide all that complicated shooting yourself in the foot stuff because developer's don't need to see that.
