I was reading the posts on fark and there are a lot of ass holes out there that have no respect for his death, but for the most part, everyone I've talked too is going to miss him deeply, and although I'm not catholic, he was a very great man, and did some very great things for the world.
May his soul rest in peace. |

it is a sad day.
but the new pope might bring some much need change and youth (well not really youth, he's not that young...but you get the idea) to the church. Quote:

The Death of Pope John Paul II
Like most of the people who have replied here I also feel that it is a great loss. I myself am not the most religious of people however it is a very saddening turn of events when you think about all the good things he himself did during his lifetime.
May he now rest in peace for all eternity, shadowhunter. |

Yeah man being the Pope would be a tough job that not many people could do...And the only way to retire is in a body bag

I know he did alot of good things in this world.
I also know I dont agree with some of the stuff he has done. As I have nothing nice ever to say about organized religion, I will say nothing at all. But leave you knowing, that this event does not faze me one bit. I have respect for your opinions on the matter, I feel that I should be able to share this without scrutinization from any that feel differently from my views. That is all.

Though I'm not religious, from what I've heard, he was a great man, and has done many great things. Like the post above, I don't agree with everything he said or did, but regardless, I have an enormous amount of respect for the man, during his life and after his death. What I don't understand, though, is why so much saddness and mourning over the pope's death. It's understandable that many people feel a sense of loss by his death, but instead of mourning over his death, I believe that we should celebrate his life, and all that he did and accomplished. He lived life to the fullest. He got and gave as much as possible from his life. He died as an old man, who has done everything that could ever be asked of a human being. He died an accomplished man. Thankfully (I don't think) he suffered much, and died of natural causes. He's a role-model. While his death certainly deserves mourning, I think people should emphasize his accomplishments in life more. I can't speak for him, but that's certainly the way I'd like to be remembered.

before his assasination attempt in the 80's, he used to be an advid mountain climber, and a ski trip person. He was a very lively pope, and I'm sure he wouldn't of changed a single thing about his life.
