Re: Learn how to hack

I'm right here, Y2. I made the report that caused the disappearance. One should probably not respond to posts that are going to disappear, though I do it myself, from time to time.

We had a discussion back when this forum was new and decided then that posts regarding hacking would not be allowed.

The situation is not clear-cut. Note also that hacker and cracker are not synonymous. I have a friend who is a top-notch hacker AND cracker. He used to crack various applications, publish the 0-day results, the notify the manufacturer that they needed to fix things up. He is now a respected professional for a well-known security firm.

Certain forms of cracking, particularly the exploitation of buffer overflow, are taught in programming courses. Nevertheless, in order to avoid enabling people to perform illegal acts, the forum adopted its present policy.

I quote from the rules:
Quote:
Keep It Legal
Keep it clean and do not post pornographic material or link to it. In addition, do not post anything warez related or related to other illegal acts. Discussion related to hacking is prohibited as there is a fine line between legal hacking and unwittingly assisting someone out there in Internet land with committing a criminal act.

What will happen: The offending post will be deleted and legal authorities may be contacted.
First offense: 5 point infraction will remain on user's record for 6 months.

Re: Learn how to hack

Think about this, Y2: we have scroll bars. It's not a brilliant thing to do to quote entire posts. If you need to quote a part that's relevant to your response, do so. Otherwise, don't quote. There's more than one way to bring up a reply box.
