Any good book recommendations?
Not just for c++, but for windows and game programming altogether. I've been learning c++ for a couple months now, and need a step up. However, I have no idea how to relate c++ to game programming, like 3d game creation and such. yes, it would take time but how do you link those things together? is there possibly a book on this? anyone?

when i was in school, we learned c++ from the deitel and deitel book, which is very good, and gets updated constantly. plus, most comp sci students are familiar with it. unfortunately, i think it's about 80 bucks. if you're near a university, you can probably pick up the last version for next to nothing, since the bookstores won't buy it back.
as for game coding, you should consider spending 3 hours at border's or bookstar or something, combing through the 500 choices. |

brkstf you are a lifesaver
ha, the funny thing is I just bought dietels' book c++: How to program (5th edition) ---> The new one for 75 dollars. I was thinking about getting the 4th edition to save money, since it was only 33 dollars to buy (I buy all my books online at amazon! excellent sources!!!) But it used the visual studio 6 compiler, and I didn't wanna deal with that complication due to my visual studio.net 2003 edition Also, thank you on the idea about the bookstore. I don't have a bookstar by me, but I know borders lets you hang out there for as long as you want, and you can even return books if you're not satisfied with them! I might just go in there one day with a bag of food and some soda and just hang out all day and read lol, like a camp out I appreciate everything Jason |
