My hacking and virii development days have been long over... I write code for a living (and a hobby) so I can't risk the consequences.

I particularly like the idea of infecting scanner sequences... acheiving stealth mode from a scanner is not that complex.. fairly trivial actually. I never liked using other peoples' code be it virii dev kits, encryption, operational transgressors, etc... I would prefer to derive my own methods... makes it that much more sweet.

Probably the easiest method for distribution other than via email attachment is to hijack packets between box A and box B... appending to the packet and then sending it to its original destination intact (but infected)... or you could piggy back it onto a software updating web service... they're are plenty out there to choose from.

My thoughts on virii.

When I ever I got into programming a few years ago, guys like Kevin Mitnick and Steve Wozniak really caught my eye. They started out just to learn "phone phreaking" was the hot act then. Free long distance, etc. Then the computers came. In the begginning it was all just for knoledge, and then some bigger hacks came.

I'm not sure if either of them ever caused intential damage, but Kevin went to prison just the same for hacking.

I think that the people who write virii are assholes, unless they don't harm data. I think that virii can be very productive in securing machines. Write a code that brings on a whole new kind of exploit, and then get it patched.

I agree, I think that the people that don't cause harm are clever as it's much harder to make a effective virus that doesn't cause malicious harm (effective as in makes a point etc.) I don't write virii myself, but I don't dispise those that do, at least not all of them. A skilled virii writer is a peaceful virii writer.

The Darwinian Mutation Engine is an object file programmed by Mark Ludwig to demonstrate how viruses can evolve like living organisms. Sorry if it's confusing. I wrote it rather quickly and didn't read it over.

To reply to the 64-bit computer bit . . .
I know their around. But they still aren't common in home PCs. I'm sure companies use them, but I was referring specifically to the home user in my post.
BTW, how fast is it?

Heuristic Analysis is searching for code common in the program you're scanning for. It's used by anti-virus software, so it makes sense to be used by viruses.
