Please could someone tell me what the best Book(s) are to read to learn c++ from scratch.

I've been told anything by Schildt is good, but I'm sure one of these guys can recommend a certain book. Oh, and if you want to learn C, C For Dummies rules.

A book's quality is relative to every observers frame of reference. I think most SAMS books are shit regardless of wether or not I learned from then or not. Ok I read the Tut. and I didn't understand any of it....at all. I just don't get C++

Does anyone know a good C++ book that you might be able to find at the library?

I've heard Herbert Schidlt (however it's spelt) is a good author. And BTW, I am the funny-code-in-signature guy - don't try and compete :p

Just do an amazon search and read the reviews...

Usually good books have good reviews... go figure...

I've never bought or read a "for dummies" book just because it implies that the book is oversimplified crap for nubs, but then again I'll never know because I've never tried.

I personaly dont think that any of the books on programming are not worth the buy or not worth to get... I know that I am new to programming but I think that everything is worth it...
