Question windows memset and Linux memset (difference?)

Hi,

I think I notice a difference in the memset working in a Windows environment compared to working in a Unix-like environment.

In windows...

I'm using GCC over msys. I have source code that my friend and I are working on and it compiles in this windows environment fine and runs fine. I am running GCC version 3.2.3 and mingw special 20030504-1

In Gentoo Linux 2004.3 or Mandrake Linux 10.0 or Mandrake Linux 10.1...

I'm using GCC 3.3.4=Gentoo, GCC 3.4.3=Mandrake Linux 10.1, GCC 3.2.3=Mandrake Linux 10.0. SDL versions all the same. It seems after I try to run the program in Linux the program seems to run totally different. We are using memset to work with arrays. My friend is the main person who would understand the array setup more so if you have further questions i'm sure he might be willing to explain. Please email him at aourhgad@gmail.com.

Its just that I dont know what the main difference (if any) is ther from the memset in the Windows setup compared to the Linux setup.

Is there some similar function I could use other than memset that would do the same thing?

thanks in advance,
George
