Nah I started with one of their books... I hated their structure and organization of the books...

Try Problem Solving With C++ by Walter Savitch

What's wrong with C++ for Dummies?
I used C for Dummies when I was learning C, and it worked pretty well.
I wouldn't think the two books could differ that much.

Their books are decent, but if you really want a more indepth understanding you'll use another book.

They're by different authors. C for Dummies is by Dan Gookin, who is a living genius. C++ for Dummies, however, is by Stephen Davis, who, unfortunately, can't write his way out of a paper bag.
