We use Java Programming : Introductory Published by Course Technology, Inc.
by Joyce Farrell at school, which I think is pretty good. Also, check out java.sun.com. They have some good stuff their.

I haven't seen it, but I've generally been pleased with Sams' books.

Thanks, as well have I.
I heard that I should considered learning C as well. For the purpose that C is closely intergreated with hardware and it would help me make Java programes that would run faster and in general better. If I where to learn just Java then most likly I would find myself making programmes that would run not to their best of ability because I would not have the knowledge between programes and hardware. To me this makes sense, but I am not too sure if it is indeed accurate. You guys think such statements are true and anything to add? P.S. How do I edit the topic name? Can't find edit thing by first post : / Last edited by natefico; Feb 1st, 2005 at 4:19 PM. |

I always thought the edit button for the first post would do it, but if not, let me know what you want me to change the title to, and I think I could do it.
Now, C is a great language, and yes, it allows you to program at a much lower level than Java can, but that doesn't take away from Java's greatness. Java is a great language to learn, in my opinion. I'm not exactly sure how or if C programs could make your code better in Java. For the most part, you wouldn't really need to. Given, C code is considerably faster, but on today's machines it doesn't really matter for the most part. I've never seen or used C to make my Java code "better."
